Kern River Valley Community Emergency Response Team

CERT is a group of community or workplace volunteers who are trained through FEMA guidelines to help protect life and property in the wake of a disaster. As we all know, all the First Responders, Fire Dept, Law Enforcement, Ambulance companies, will be overwhelmed within the first 5 minutes of a major disaster. It is up to each individual and family to be prepared and be able to take care of themselves for at least 3 days. The CERT Program will teach the participates how to do this. The scope of this course includes: Disaster Preparedness, Fire Safety and Hazardous Materials, Disaster Medical Operations, Light Search and Rescue, CERT and the Incident Command System, Disaster Psychology, and Terrorism
